You can click a topic in the right column to access a page that lists summaries and related sub-topics. If you see a title that interests you, click on it. You will then be taken to a page where you can view short summaries or you can choose to buy a full summary.

MeansBusiness editors scan some 100 prominent magazines, newspapers, journals, and web sites in search of the latest and most original business thinking. These ideas are chosen for their originality, cogency, and relevance to today’s rapidly changing economy. The archives are updated on a bi-weekly basis.

Direct Marketing

Direct Marketing Association

Founded in 1917, the Direct Marketing Association (DMA) is today the largest trade association for businesses interested in direct, database, and interactive global marketing, with about 5,200 member companies from the United States and 44 foreign nations on six continents.

Both consumer and business-to-business marketers are the users of direct marketing techniques. These marketers employ a number of media, including telephone marketing, catalogs and other direct mail pieces, television, radio, newspaper, magazines, and the Internet to market directly to their customers. The suppliers, of course, are those companies that provide users with supplies and services.

The DMA shapes the way that organizations apply direct/interactive marketing methods to all marketing, sales and customer service activity. Their mission is to encourage the education, growth and profitability of their members and their adherence to high ethical standards.

The DMA provides information and services to businesses interested in direct, database, and interactive global marketing. It represents its member interests, promotes the direct marketing industry, offers training, hosts networking events and much more.

Their members include catalog companies, direct mailers, Internet marketers and others that market to consumers and businesses.

They sport:

A library of articles
Industry tools for you
Government resources
Consumer resources

Business Information Portals

Bpubs.com
The Business Publications Search Engine

No indexes, no surfing, no homepages, just content and more content.

BPubs.com is a directory based Internet search engine that strives to cover the topic of Business Publications. By eliminating the noise of “homepages, index pages, and other extraneous web site components”, their users are able to extract what they truly searching for – content. Their target audience of corporate and business users will become repeat visitors because they save them time finding the information they need.

Their collection is made up of Business Publications and longer Articles. The source of these publications can vary greatly: from Government Agencies, to online Business Zines, to Consulting companies making their expertise available for public consumption. Best of all, they won’t index a publication unless it’s available free of charge.

BPubs.com was developed and is maintained by Steven Matthews. Steve is the Knowledge Services Director at the Vancouver law firm Clark Wilson LLP; he also maintains the Vancouver Law Librarian Blog. As a professional Law Librarian with an active interest in business research and search engines, Steve launched BPubs in 1999 as an experiment into content level indexing. Five years later in 2005, BPubs consistently helps out 40,000 business visitors each month.

Women Business Owners realize that applying for business funding or financing is a much more complicated process than applying for personal lines of credit or personal loans. Applying for business funding requires careful preparation and demands that you understand the loan or grant process and what it takes to qualify for a business loan.
